About Far North Timber Sales

Our business was established in 1987 and grew from a small operation, originally called Bargain Buy Timber and Ply in Sheridan St.As the City of Cairns grew in the late 1980s and into the 1990s, it was apparent that the business needed to expand. The business moved to a new location in Franzmann St. At that time Northern Saw Services was purchased from Mr Don Shaw. The site at Franzman St was originally Capricornia Sawmill. The original Saw Mill building still stands to this day. The two businesses grew to a point where Far North Timber Sales had to move to a bigger premises.Far North Timber Sales and Northern Saw Services now operates from 2 Palmer St Portsmith. This location was originally Australian Furniture Timbers. The mainly Timber Pole Constructed Buildings was constructed in 1950.We have facilities to Laminate Timbers to your requirements, and with our Twin Drum Sander, we can achieve a top quality finish. Northern Saw Services can help with all your saw inquiries from sharpening the smallest Planer Blades, to the Biggest Saw Mill Saw.We pride ourselves in giving the best service possible, and ask for nothing more from our customers than honest feedback so we can give them the service they deserve.

    I have been renovating my old Queenslander over the past few years and have bought timber here at least 20 times. The staff are local and have a lot of knowledge. They are friendly and eager to please, no job too small. These guys are diamonds.
