Carl Kruger, the founder of Kruger Enterprises, started out making wagons and undertaking blacksmith's work. Such was his skill in working with timber, however, that it was natural his attention would turn to handles for axes, shovels and other tools. Initially, his output was simply for his own use - but neighbours and tradesmen living in the area quickly recognised the strength and durability of the Kruger handles. Demand grew quickly and formed the basis of today's thriving business. The Kruger family extended the operation in 1927 and built a highly successful company, sending handles all over Australia and throughout various parts of the South Pacific Islands.
