After graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture from Deakin University in 1988, Frank Macchia established a design, construction, and development business in Melbourne. While this was an unusual path (as most architectural graduates seek employment with other architects) Frank is grateful for the invaluable experience of these earlier years…“Experiencing the role of designer, builder and client simultaneously has given me a greater understanding and empathy for each party. One of my primary aims with all of my projects is to form strong, healthy relationships between the client, the construction team and myself as designer, as this ensures a more efficient and enjoyable process.”Frank and his family left Melbourne and moved to Noosa in 1997 where he established his own design practice.While most of the projects he is involved with are for clients, he continues to develop a number of his own projects. “It’s beneficial to continue work on my own projects occasionally, as it keeps me in touch with the needs of both clients and builders and allows me the freedom to try new methods before introducing them to other projects.”Frank is currently working on projects on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne & Saudi Arabia and thrives on the challenge of working in different regions. While Frank’s main body of work and his passion is for residential architecture, he is also keen to develop his portfolio of work to include further health centres, apartments, galleries, cafes, retail, and resorts.
