About Blaxland Preschool Kindergarten

Blaxland Preschool Kindergarten has provided an innovative preschool program to lower Blue Mountains families for 50 years. We are a community owned and run, not for profit preschool catering for children from 3 years of age to school entry with an Exceeding the National Quality Standard rating by ACEQCA. Your child’s name can be placed on our waiting list once they have turned 2 years of age.

Our program is based upon providing a rich and inviting play environment that supports the children’s development and learning and is reflective of the children’s interests, strengths and needs.

We work in partnership with families in the management of the preschool and in the program that we present to the children. Family involvement is a core value within our preschool philosophy.

Our curriculum is play-based, child centred and emergent and is reflective of the children’s interests, strengths and needs. It is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF), Belonging, Being, Becoming.

Opportunities to explore Indigenous perspectives, connect with nature through play, and learn about sustainability are important aspects of our curriculum. Activities that promote curiosity, discovery and imagination, problem-solving and encourage the use of the senses are central to what we do at preschool too.

Our Sessions

3 year olds – are given the choice of either 1 or 2 days a week.
4 year olds – are given the choice of either 1, 2 or 3 days a week (if your child turns 4 by 31st July).

1 day positions are on Wednesdays
2 day positions are Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday
3 day positions are Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday/Friday

All days are 9:00am-3:15pm with limited availability for extended hours.

Our Fees

The state government provides funding to contribute to preschool education for 4 year olds.

The current 2015 fees are:
4 year old – $48 per day
3 year old – $53 per day
Annual membership fee – $10

Additional fees for extended hours.

Fee subsidy is available for Health Care Card holders and ATSI families.
